Is there an app that turns baby photos into a printable book without a subscription box?
Lunita's monthly photobook generates a print-ready PDF directly — a warm A4-format booklet with a cover page, your baby's name, and a 2×2 photo grid with the date and caption from each diary entry beneath every picture. There's no print-and-ship service: the PDF lands on your phone and you decide what to do with it. The photobook is part of Lunita's optional Premium tier; the core diary is free.
What the photobook contains
The PDF opens with a cover page: your baby's name, the month label, a subtitle reading "A Keepsake Photo Book", and a count of the photos and diary entries inside. From there, the photos from the month are laid out in a 2×2 grid across as many pages as needed. Under each photo sits the date it was taken and up to two lines from the diary entry it was attached to — so the pictures stay connected to the moment, not floating without context.
Videos are skipped (PDFs can't play them), and any photo format that can't be embedded as a PNG or JPEG is also skipped gracefully. If a month has no photos yet, the PDF says so rather than generating empty pages.
Generated on your iPhone, kept by you
Tapping "Bind this month into a photobook" inside the monthly recap opens the photobook sheet. Lunita calls the generation service, downloads the finished PDF to a local file on your device, and opens it in QuickLook — so you can read it in-app exactly as it will print. From there the standard iOS share sheet lets you save it to Files, send it to a print service, or share it however you like.
Generation can take a moment, especially for months with many photos. The sheet shows a binding progress state while it works, and a retryable error state if something goes wrong. Your photos are never deleted or altered by the process.
Privacy: only family-approved photos appear
Lunita's photobook respects the same visibility rules as the rest of the app. Parents and caregivers see every non-deleted photo in the PDF. Family members with view-only access see only photos that have been explicitly shared to the family — the same entries the parents approved — so private 3am snapshots never appear in a book a grandparent downloads. This is enforced server-side, not just in the app.
The photobook is scoped to a single family and a single baby. No photos are ever shared with third-party print companies on your behalf; Lunita hands you a PDF and leaves the rest to you. For more on Lunita's approach to privacy, see the private baby diary app page.
Part of the monthly recap, not separate
The photobook lives inside the monthly recap — you reach it from the "Bind this month into a photobook" card at the bottom of the recap view. That means the AI-written story and the printable photobook are always tied to the same month, giving you two keepsake formats from the same material. Read more about the story side in the monthly baby recap app.
If you're still deciding what kind of digital record to keep, the digital baby book app page covers how Lunita's different keepsake layers fit together.
